What are we learning this term?
This half term we will be studying the topic ‘Namaste’, where we will be learning all about life in India and hearing different stories and beliefs from Hinduism. A major part of this half term, will be continued preparation for the children’s SAT’s alongside teaching an English and Maths hour each day. Science this half term will be closely linked to technology as we will be learning what micro-organisms are and what they are used for. After that we will be using our knowledge to understand what happens when we make different types of bread.
We started 2017 learning all about Tudors and also studying some of Shakespeare's works. The children were also looking at their own identity and produced some art to reflect this. Alongside their topic, they continued to work hard in preparation for their SATs.
In the second half term our topic 'Space invaders' was fun, exciting and out of this world! The children worked really hard on their production of 'The Amazing Adventures of Superstan' and put on a show that was simply staggering.
In the first half term we got to know each other whilst we settled into year 6 and all successfully became prefects. Our topic was World War II. Throughout this topic we looked at life in Britain, alongside learning about the war, how it started, who was involved and what were some of the consequences. We took a trip to Duxford and took part in a sleepover in early preparation for Saundersfoot.
We have PE on a Tuesday and Friday so bring your kit in those days!
Homework is always due in on a Monday morning!
