Welcome to Class SA

Miss Anderson

Miss Anderson is one half of the Year 4 team and loves working alongside Mrs Sheldon. She is very excited about all the fantastic topics she has planned for her new class and can't wait to get started! Miss Anderson is also the English Leader and has lots of fun activities planned for the whole school to enjoy, including World Book Day!

Class SA

Our first topic is 'Chocolate', where we will be studying the works of Roald Dahl and in particular his famous story 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'.

In Geography we will learn all about the yummy food and where it comes from, including the history of chocolate from the Ancient Mayans to the introduction of popular brands of chocolate we all know today!

Our first English unit will focus on story writing where we will study the works of Roald Dahl and compare him to other authors. We will base our story on ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’. As a class we will explore the features of his work and take the time to plan and write our own version using our very own ‘made up words’ just like Roald Dahl himself. To finish off the half term we will learn about persuasive writing in order to convince our friends to buy our very own chocolate bar!

Through Design and Technology we will get the chance to become Willy Wonka by designing and making our own chocolate bar. We will test lots of ingredients and come up with a class recipe, then we will make our chocolate bars in class. We will link this to maths and use nets to create packaging.

To end the Topic we will be celebrating Roald Dahl’s Birthday by hosting a small party and sharing our Roald Dahl stories.
